If our boss let us bet on such ridiculous markets, Harrison Barnes’ nasty stuff would be a $10 chance to win dunk of the year. This Tar Heel tomahawk conjures up memories of B-Diddy on AK-47, B-Diddy on Jermaine O’Neal and Vince Carter on Zo. Barnes’ facial would be much shorter in the fictitious market if Blake Griffin didn’t play another 68 regular season games, some of which will be against Pau Gasol.

Now let’s move on to markets Betstar are actually accepting wagers on, like the Divisional Winners. Hopefully you didn’t pay too much attention to our early season preview of the Atlantic as it’s fair to say we were off the money there. We didn’t realise Andrew Bynum was damaged goods so we’re calling mulligan there.

We also thought Amar’e was healthy, hence the knock on the Knicks. Still, we’re going to stick with our guns and recommend the boys from Brooklyn. We liked them at $4, so we have to like them at their current odds of $4.75. D-Will is dominating Brooklyn like he grew up in the Marcy Projects and Brook Lopez has been eyeing off an All-Star spot since Dwight moved West.

It’s hard to pot Carmelo’s men though. Raymond Felton treated his off season like he was a million dollar professional athlete rather than star in his own Super Size Me remake and he looks to be having a huge impact on chemistry. Likewise Tyson Chandler. The win/loss record suggests they should be shorter than the current $2.50 but we’re happy to take them on. Same goes for the C’s at $2.80.

The Central Division hasn’t moved much at the top of the division. The Danger Granger injury and the slow start in Indiana means the Bulls have firmed a few cents into $1.67 whilst the Pacers have gone from $2.15 to $2.40. Meanwhile, the Bucks have been the big movers. The sceptical Jennings/Ellis backcourt has gone from $31 into $8.

That’s the biggest shortener we have as the NBA has provided us with few other surprises so far. Unsurprisingly, Miami are $1.01 for the Southeast and the Thunder $1.10 for the Northwest.

Divisional races are on for the Southwest and Pacific though. The league leading Grizzlies are $4.25 into $3.50 for the Southwest. We know they won’t maintain their 68 win season pace, but 55 is achievable isn’t it? They have the balance of a 14 year old Olympian on the beam. Randolph and Gasol 2 are beasts and Rudy has stepped up another level. Tony Allen brings the D and Conley is the glue. We think the short priced Spurs ($1.57) are creating value.

The Pacific is equally interesting. The Clippers have a one game lead on their rival, moving their Divisional odds from $3.50 in to $2.50. The Lakers were $1.25 preseason. Their current odds of $1.44 might be getting to a silly price. Particularly since the Clips just lost to New Orleans at home. And if you didn’t see the game, the answer is no; Eric Gordan didn’t make a miraculous comeback and Anthony Davis didn’t take the court.

This Lakers team has to come good soon. The $1.44 is ripe.
