First Time NBA Fantasy: Week 7 Studs/Duds & Happenings
Another quick week of the NBA has flown by which means a great new fantasy article for all our readers!
This week in the USSDU Beginner’s League, a few of the managers seem to be dropping off and not doing much reeling and dealing nor add/drops, which is a little disappointing because it’s only week 7 and we all love fantasy basketball.
Alas, we push on, and this week we show you the little that has taken place in the League this week, plus our usual studs and duds, along with our newest addition of pick me ups, and finally we’ll give you some trade targets (players who you should be scouting in hope to trade for them).
My Add/Drops
Only one add/drop this week on my behalf and I think it was one that should have happened a long time ago.
Added: Andray Blatche
Dropped: John Wall
So finally John Wall was dropped from my team, where he was just sitting on my bench alongside Ricky Rubio (at least he’s finally coming back within the next week), however Wall still has no timetable for return even though the Wizards believe he’ll be training within the next two weeks.
Blatche was added for a quick showing on my list, who I believe will depart my team once Brook Lopez comes back.
However I really do like Blatche, he would be a great pick up for any team. So if your league still has him in their free agency, go and get him!
Failed Trade Proposal
There were no accepted trades this week among anyone in the league; however I did offer one trade that was shut down.
Offered: Ricky Rubio, Andrea Bargnani and Monta Ellis
For: Brook Lopez and Stephen Curry
Thought this trade through and thought it was fair with the return of Rubio (obviously without him it’s a little lopsided).
But it was shut down and my opposing owner highlighted Monta Ellis as a deal-breaker so obviously he’s not a huge Monta fan.
Studs (Stats are last 7 days)
Kobe Bryant: 34.3ppg, 5.5rpg, 4.5apg, 47%FG, 2.3spg.
Paul George: 26ppg, 7.7rpg, 4.3apg, 54%FG.
David Lee: 24ppg, 13rpg, 57%FG.
Russell Westbrook: 29ppg, 8.5apg, 3.3spg, 48%FG.
Al Horford: 19.3ppg, 13.3rpg, 57%FG.
Tyson Chandler: 15ppg, 14.3rpg, 66%FG.
Andrei Kirilenko: 8ppg, 7rpg, 6apg, 4spg, 3bpg, 80%FG (Watch this guy over a period of time, stat sheet stuffer. See his name pop up later.)
Duds (Stats are last 7 days)
Gustavo Ayon: 8mpg, 1ppg, 2.3rpg. (He is getting no minutes and is falling out of the rotation in the Orlando road trip.)
Tony Allen: 23mpg, 5ppg, 3rpg.
Al-Farouq Aminu: 23.3mpg, 5.7ppg, 5.3rpg.
Harrison Barnes: 28.3mpg, 7ppg, 4.5rpg, 33%FG.
Omer Asik: 22.7mpg, 5.3ppg, 7rpg, 38%FG.
Jeremy Lin: 21.3mpg, 5ppg, 3.3apg, 3.3rpg, 28%FG.
Pick Me Ups:
Ben Gordon: Some leagues still have him sitting in the Free Agency list so if that’s you go and get him!
Averaging 16.6 points per game in the last 15 days, shooting nearly 50%, Gordon has finally found something in Charlotte after a heavy start.
The welcome addition: He makes 3.3 three’s a game right now, so that’s a major positive to any team because 3’s are always hard to come by.
Rodney Stuckey: Another player who took their time to get something going this season, Rodney Stuckey is finding some form. 11.7ppg and 5apg over the last 15 days sees him in a spot where you can see him dropping 20 a game sometime soon.
Stuckey is shooting 45% from the field as well; guess that’s just a little better than the 6% he was shooting to start the year.
Robin Lopez: While Anthony Davis is still sitting on the sidelines plucking his eyebrows (or eyebrow), Robin is a good quick pick me up.
13.3ppg and 4.9rpg over the past 15 days, Lopez shooting 62% from the field which is a big boost to any team. He swats nearly two shots a game too which is very handy.
Jordan Crawford: Only 40% of leagues own this guy. He’s dropping 17 points a game and only 40% have him. Come on guys, he is a teams go to guy.
Crawford is the Wizards leading contributor which means he’s a huge plus in the fantasy world (who really cares about how he plays, we care about him getting the 17 a game). In addition to points, he’s also quite solid on other categories (4.6apg, 3.3rpg, a three pointer a game, 43%FG).
Trade Targets
This is our new piece in the weekly fantasy article in which we point out a bunch of players you should be looking to trade for.
Of course, if you don’t know who to trade, you can always comment asking for some help in the comment box at the bottom of the page. Another option is you can write on US Sports Down Under’s wall on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/USSportsDownUnder?ref=ts&fref=ts
Andrei Kirilenko: Well you already knew he was coming so we thought we’d list him first.
The Russian can do everything, score when needed, grab rebounds, pass the ball AND get stops on defence. Over the last 15 days he’s averaged: 11ppg, 6.3rpg, 4.7apg, 2.3spg, 2bpg, 43%FG.
Andrei is just one of those all round guys that can do a bit of everything on the fantasy stat sheet.
Serge Ibaka: Just one of those straight up beasts who can dominate a fantasy match-up. 13.7ppg, 7.1rpg is a good stat line over the last 15 days.
Oh wait; did I miss a stat for Ibaka? Yes that’s right, 2.9 blocks per game, he’s a shot blocker remember. There’s your massive asset for Ibaka. There’s also a nice little addition, 62%FG.
Greg Monroe: Although he might not be ‘beasting’ it lately like he was early on in the season, Monroe is certainly still a trade target because his value has slipped a little bit and you might get him for a little less.
12ppg and 8.3rpg is another solid stat line, plus he gives you 3.3apg as a centre. Those figures are over the last 15 days, however both points and rebounds go up about 2 points over the last 30 days.
Jrue Holiday: It’s amazing to see how Holiday has come leaps and bounds from last season. He’s averaging 16.5ppg and 9.5apg over the last 15 which is a great line for a point guard in the league right now. Definitely a guy you’d give up a little more for.
Week 7 is done and dusted and now we prepare for week 8! As always, any questions or comments please post them below, I am always appreciative of your comments.
Good luck for this week guys and I hope my information will help you.
