NBA Fantasy: Week 13 Studs/Duds & Happenings
Welcome back fantasy fans to yet another bumper edition of NBA Fantasy: Studs/Duds and Happenings. This week the usual is included with the weekly add/drops, my trade proposals/accepted trades plus the studs/duds. Let’s waste no more time and get straight into it!
My Add/Drops
Added: Dion Waiters
Dropped: Jordan Crawford
Wasn’t happy with the type of minutes Jordan Crawford was getting now John Wall is back. Crawford plays a very minor role off the bench and I probably should have ditched him a lot earlier (when he was injured and not even playing would have been ideal). However I stuck with him and it didn’t pay any dividends. On the flip side, I went with Waiters because he seems to have found a little groove off the bench with the Cavs. See how that one plays out.
Accepted Trades
There was one accepted trade this week which funnily enough included me. There were trade proposals galore this week as I think a few teams were trying to shake up their roster. Starting to work out trade ideas is not a bad idea at this time of the year if you’re sitting there wondering where your team can take you.
Send: Monta Ellis & DeMar DeRozan
Receive: Jrue Holiday
Was really pushing for an in form Holiday (very close to being an All-Star this year), therefore I was happy to throw away a key player. Ellis and DeRozan were my choices as trade pieces because I was after FG% improvement and these two just don’t shoot the ball at a consistent level. I also picked up Andre Drummond off waivers to complete my roster from this trade. Another solid FG% shooter.
Trades That Failed This Week
There are way too many that I have received plus sent to name all that have failed, however the best trade fails will be listed below. ‘Best’ being either where I thought it was really close to being accepted, or just a complete joke.
Send: Joe Johnson
Receive: Rudy Gay
Close one, but as it’s a same player swap, JJ had greater stats and that was the end of that.
Send: Monta Ellis, Jose Calderon, Jameer Nelson
Receive: Kyrie Irving, Alonzo Gee
I proposed this and thought it was very fair giving him three good role players to a fantasy team for one star and a scrub. Obviously he held on to tight to Irving and as soon as he saw him on the table being proposed he totally shut it down.
Send: Nikola Vucevic, Jameer Nelson, Monta Ellis
Receive: Tyson Chandler, Nic Batum
Probably a little unfair now I look back at it; however Nik Vucevic has such a high trade value right now due to his great play as of late. If I had have proposed it again now, I probably would have taken Batum out for another player of lesser ability.
Send: Greivis Vasquez
Receive: Chris Bosh
This one’s a lol. Definitely not throwing away my favourite player that I called over a year ago to break out this year for Chris Bosh. He’s my starting point guard and has way better stats than Bosh. Only now will I consider moving him seeing I’ve picked up Jrue Holiday.
Send: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith
Receive: DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay
Very close one; it was only that my opponent preferred DMC over an inconsistent J-Smoove. Fair enough.

No Pick Me Ups this week as there hasn’t been a lot of up and down players. I haven’t been able to pick out a bunch of players this week in which you should be picking up. The players I would have mentioned, most or at least some of them were mentioned in last week’s piece. Hopefully you can find a gem or two during the week and let us know all about the steal you nabbed!
Good luck for this week to all fantasy players and make sure you return next week for another edition of NBA Fantasy!
