NBA Fantasy: Week 17 Studs/Duds & Happenings

Your weekly fantasy expert returns for the second half of the fantasy season after his leave of absence over the All-Star break. I hope that you all enjoyed the festivities that Houston had provided us all for our beautiful television boxes and PC screens.
However, no matter how many dunk participants, Skills Challenge contestants or All-Star players you may have had in your fantasy team, there is still a little bit more to go before our fantasy playoffs start so now is the time to get your head into gear!
My Add/Drops
With the break providing a lot of players a well earned rest, I’m sure this helped most owners as their day to day players received some treatment to continue playing at 100% for the back end of the season.
However, other players either hit the injury cloud or continued to hover under it meaning moves were continually having to be made:
Added: Bradley Beal (WAS)
Dropped: Andrew Bogut (GSW)
Ok, so I was one of the many owners who took the risk on Bogut and the results are showing that it really didn’t pay off.
For those that have followed me all throughout the season yes I have had many success stories with certain players; however Bogut was one that got away.
With back spasms the early diagnosis I wasn’t too concerned, however now that the MRI has shown a protruding disc things just got a little more serious, hence the decision to find another player.
Failed Trade
Only one trade was proposed to me during the week and it was an All-New Orleans affair:
Send: Greivis Vasquez
Receive: Anthony Davis
Two reasons why I declined this trade: First of all I love Greivis Vasquez, he’s just been the biggest sleeper in the league and I had his number since day 1 (pre-draft).
Secondly I feel that I’m really stacked with bigs so to let a point guard go (although I do have a bunch of only PG’s) made me feel a little uneasy.

Eric Bledsoe (LAC): 4.5ppg, 4.5apg, 3.5rpg, 28%FG.

Pick Me Ups
Nate Robinson (CHI): Nate has only been added to this list quite recently and quickly for a nice bump and run. With Hinrich missing the previous Bulls game with injury (again!), Robinson looks to be a short term investment at least until Hinrich is good to return.
Jeff Green (BOS): Green is really one to watch for the coming weeks. On an ever changing Celtics roster it seems for the past few weeks, Green has looked like the one who has benefited the most from it. He dropped 31 points the other day while he’s averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds over the five games. Currently a must own player.
Maurice Harkless (ORL): I’ve been telling you to jump on this guy for a couple of weeks now however I just feel like because you’ve never heard of his name you’re a little hesitant. Harkless is finally starting to find his range shooting wise which just helps this guy’s fantasy level even more.
Over the last stretch of Magic games, Moe has been averaging 16.8 points and 7 rebounds while also chiming in with a steal and a block each time.
Thad Young (PHI): Young is currently looming to return from injury as his fantasy level took a dip while he was off the floor. If you could remember his stellar performances just prior to going down, you’re going to want to pick this guy up off waivers if available.
Jason Thompson (SAC): Thompson was one of the early sleepers in the season until his form starting to drop off. His made it back up on this list this week because of two reasons: He was slowly starting to find his feet again (12.8ppg, 8rpg over his last 5) and the fact that Thomas Robinson has been shipped out of Sac-town which allows Thompson just a few more minutes to strut his stuff.
How’s your fantasy team faring as we head towards the Playoffs?
