Aussies In The NBA Recap: Mills Making An Impact

It’s time to take a look at how Aussie’s Andrew Bogut and Patty Mills have been traveling lately in the NBA.
Andrew Bogut hasn’t played a game of basketball since the 7th of November last year. Since that time rumours have been swirling around as to when his return will come. No one really knows the exact date of which he will be back on the court, so I’m not going to add to that by speculating any further.
I will say this though; when a fully fit Bogut does return, the Warriors will be a scary team, whether that’s this season or next. The Warriors have the outside threats in Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. Add Bogut along with David Lee and Harrison Barnes in the front court and Golden State will be a team to be reckoned with out West.
Although the Warriors have been amazing without Bogut, currently 22-10, you would have to think they can’t keep it up forever. Rookie Festus Ezeli has done more than a serviceable job at the center position in the absence of Bogut, but I’m sure most Warrior fans would rather have Bogut protecting the paint.
Patty Mills had a very consistent December. In San Antonio’s 16 games through December, Patty played in all bar two of them.
His best match of the month came against Denver. Although San Antonio lost in a close one, Mills played a tremendous game. In 17 minutes of game time, Mills shot a whopping 5 of 8 from long range.
Gregg Popovich was rewarded by showing faith in Mills when he started him for the last quarter. He opened the scoring in the quarter with a quick 3 and then shot 3 more in the first 6:05 minutes of the quarter. Mills finished with 15 points and 2 steals.
Another good match for Mills was a 7 point and 1 assist outing in a win over Dallas, including one 3 pointer.
December was a month of growth for Mills. He proved to himself and the Spurs, that he is one of the best long range threats on the team. And that no matter how long he has sat on the bench for, that when his time comes he will be ready to contribute on the score board and on defence.
Most games Mills has been getting upward of 10 minutes court time, this is another factor that proves how much he is improving and the faith that San Antonio have shown in him.
Lets hope Patty can keep up the good work.
