With the NBA All Star Game fast approaching it’s time to take a look at who could round out the reserve spots for the East and West teams. We have the Eastern Conference first up and the West tomorrow so check back in for the second part.

Kyrie Irving

Easy choice for me, absolute excitement machine and the only reason to watch the Cavs. Kyrie is in an awful situation with no firepower in Cleveland but shouldn’t be penalised for the rest of his teams lack of ability. Is right on the brink of becoming a starter in the next two years.

Jrue Holiday

A vastly improved Jrue deserves a nod here with the guards, keeping the 76ers alive without their star Andrew Bynum is no mean feat. A stat line like yesterdays against the Raptors says it all: 33 Points, 14 assists, 5 boards and 3 steals.

Paul George

Like Jrue, playing without his star (and major competition) Danny Granger has been a great thing for George and he has delivered win after win for the surging Indiana Pacers. George not only has been the catalyst for the teams success, he also posses the skills and has the excitement factor to showcase on the big stage in Houston with an attacking game which is becoming more and more prominent.

Chris Bosh

The third wheel in Miami often is forgotten about, just not in NBA circles as he continues to sneak under the radar and put teams away with his mid range jump shot which rarely looks like missing. While Lebron and Wade dominate the headlines in South Beach, Bosh has quietly averaged 17.5 pts, 7 boards, 2 steals and a shade under 1.5 steals.

Joakim Noah

In a year where Chicago were supposed to suffer without their star Derrick Rose and a depleted bench, Chicago has ridden it’s other pseudo star Joakim Noah. Noah is not your typical all star as he is a superior role player however his impact on this Chicago team cannot be understated. He has averaged 12 points, 11 boards and 2 blocks while anchoring one of the leagues best defensive units alongside Luol Deng and Marco Belinelli.

Tyson Chandler

This pick is one i wasn’t sure about and I guess is more about rewarding one of the conferences best teams. Early in the season it was JR Smith, Brewer and Felton tearing up the competition but the one constant in New York is none other than it’s defensive stalwart, Tyson Chandler. Again he’s not your typical all star and lacks the flash and flair of most of his counterparts what he can offer you some nasty blocks and sure knows about to finish an alley-oop.

Paul Pierce

The Truth as he is often referred to is staking his claim as a future hall of famer. A life long Celtic, Pierce has again showed flashes of brilliance this year as his Boston Celtics work out their rotations and push towards another playoff berth. With averages of 20 points, 5 boards and 4 assists his offensive game shows no signs of slowing down.
