2012-13 NBA Storylines to Watch For: Week 4
Are the Clippers Legit Title Threats?
After decades of being the laughing stock in the City of Angels this Clippers team is playing like they can go very far in the playoffs.
Their collection of prized scalps this season includes the Lakers, Spurs (x2), Memphis, Chicago and Miami.
The key to their success has been their deep bench and the improved play of their bigs, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin.
Their big test will be in the coming week as they play their first lot of away games so the big question is can they prove they are legit contenders for the title?
What’s Going On With the Bobcats?
The laughing stock of the NBA last season with a league low for winning percentage in a single season, the Bobcats have certainly turned it around.
Under the supervision of new head coach, Mike Dunlap, this team has been forging a new culture of hard work and getting the simple plays right.
Given they have no recognisable stars and their draft picks aren’t predicted to be upper echelon superstars a 5-4 start can be considered very good.
With an artificial talent ceiling in place can Michael Jordan’s Bobcats keep up their play and surprise even more NBA pundits on their way to possibly an 8th seed?
Seven Seconds or Showtime?
After undergoing knee surgery only two weeks ago Mike D’Antoni is just about ready to take the reigns of this highly talented Lakers team.
In a press conference last week he promised to bring Showtime back to Los Angeles and that can only be good news for basketball fans.
His previous offence in Phoenix and New York was exciting to watch as the play wasn’t bogged down in half court sets.
With Nash not far from returning and Kobe/Gasol/Howard starting to understand each other this team will be a league pass favourite for every NBA fan.
Is everyone excited to see what D’Antoni will bring to this Lakers group and can they adapt to his style of play easily?
