NBA Storylines to Watch – Week 5

Wizards Have Lost Their Magic

Despite a victory yesterday against Portland (which they nearly threw away) the Wizards season has been less than impressive.

Starting 1-12 is inexcusable in the NBA as they aren’t the only team with injuries.

Their chemistry has been off with problem players cropping up left and right (Trevor Ariza has been the main culprit) and their coach seems helpless to stop it.

For an organisation that is trying to change it’s culture it is doing a poor job and the question is, can they repair the damage of 2012/13 before John Wall returns?

It could be a long season in the capital for this bunch of talented but wayward bunch of ballers.

Too Much Celtic Pride?

Rajon Rondo has been on a streak of late but still the Celtics are not quite right.

His streak of 37 consecutive games of at least 10 assists was ended yesterday when he confronted Kris Humphries over a hard foul on Kevin Garnett and was ejected.

While sticking up for your team mates is the right thing to do in most situations, this case seemed to highlight the Celtics struggles in 2012/13.

Despite an improved roster they are giving up way too many points per game and don’t seem to have the same chemistry of years gone by.

Will Doc Rivers be able to kick start them on the road to redemption or will they wonder through the season hoping to pull it all together in the playoffs?

Struggle Town in Los Angeles?

Both LA teams seem to be in a funk right now and have posted losses at home against teams that should be easy wins.

The Lakers are riding Kobe hard but his numbers can’t keep going like this without the others helping out.

Howard looks a little lost and Gasol has admitted his knees aren’t 100% so the question is, who will step up?

Nash is still a week or two from returning and the bench is about as useful as a wingless plane.

The Clippers on the other hand have a full compliment of players but still lost to New Orleans and Atlanta.

It’s hard to put a finger on what is wrong but clearly something isn’t working because they have one of the deepest benches in the NBA and are struggling to put away lesser sides.

Will it be CP3 and Griffin to the rescue or will Vincent Del Negro put them on the straight and narrow in practice?
