NBA Storylines to Watch – Week 11
With so much going on in the NBA at the moment we take a step back and look at what we think is interesting in the coming week.
Flight of the Pelicans
The soon to New Orleans Pelicans are sitting right at the bottom of the Western Conference at the moment but in the coming weeks that could all change.
After months of struggling the Hornets finally have their full strength squad playing together and things can only get better from here.
With some fans seriously concerned that Eric Gordon wouldn’t return and would try force his way off the team via trade the last week has been a relief.
Gordon is back and with Ryan Anderson, Anthony Davis, Greivis Vasquez and Robin Lopez the Hornets have taken down Dallas and San Antonio.
The real test now comes this week as they face Houston, Minnesota and New York.
A few wins and the season is back on track and just maybe they can make a crack at that #8 seed.
Cousins to be Traded?
There are some very strong rumours floating around right now that indicate that several teams might be after DeMarcus Cousins.
The leading contenders right now are the Celtics (offering Courtney Lee and Jared Sullinger) and Minnesota (offering Pekovic and others)
While those trades don’t seem too appetising if you are a Kings fan they might relieve the team of a troublesome player and provide some cap room in the future.
Adding fuel to the rumours was the recent activity by the Celtics to clear some roster space by waiving Kris Joseph and Jarvis Varnardo.
Will a blockbuster trade go down this week that will see the talented big man change teams?
Damage Control for the Lakers
Just when things look like turning around something comes along to derail the Lakers.
The past week it was the news that Dwight Howard injured his should, Pau Gasol got hit in the nose and suffered concussion and Jordan Hill rolled his ankle.
This left them with Robert Sacre as their starting centre against the Rockets and that will never equate to wins.
With games against San Antonio (away), Oklahoma City (home) and Cleveland (home) they will be lucky to get out of this week with one win.
Can things get any worse for the Lakers?
Let us know your thoughts on the week ahead and if you have a game you’re looking forward to.
