NBA Storylines to Watch – Week 14

Chicago Bulls Vs. Boston Celtics At TD Garden

Another week down, lets take a look at the biggest stories of the past few days.

Rondo Down, Celtics Look to Trade

In what has to be described as a tragedy to all basketball lovers, Rajon “Raging” Rondo was diagnosed with a torn ACL last week and will miss the rest of the season.

The Celtics weren’t in the best shape before the injury (21-23) but now every man and his dog has called for the team to be blown up.

Some crazy deals ESPN have proposed include Kevin Garnett for Dwight Howard (mind blowing crazy), Paul Pierce to the Grizzlies for Rudy Gay (can’t see Pierce on this team) and Lowry and Kleiza for Sullinger, Bradley, Green and a 1st round pick (no value for the Celtics).

While Danny Ainge has never been afraid of a good deal to make his team better he is in a tight bind because Pierce won’t attract the quality of talent/future picks they need and Garnett has a no trade clause in his contract.

It would be a shame if this decorated team was seperated by trades but that is the nature of the NBA and anything can happen.

One thought, Allen Iverson signing with the Celtics to fill the void? Crazy but it would be fun to watch.

Chi-Town is Surging, Rose Returning Soon?

With no Derrick Rose the Chicago Bulls were expected to battle their way to around .500 and maybe make the playoffs.

What they have done has not surprising to Tom Thibodeau and his group of chargers given the system they play and the heart they play with.

They now have a glimmer of hope on the horizon with Rose competing in soft contract drills in practice and possibly making a return after the All Star break.

Defensively they are as solid as ever with Noah manning the middle but offensively they have struggled in half court sets.

If Rose comes back at close to what he was before his knee injury then he will provide an instant boost by getting into the lane, scoring those wild layups and spacing the floor for their three point marksmen.

At only 2.5 games behind Miami in the East, can this team get to #1 before the season ends and will they be able to topple the defending champs in the playoffs?

Bogut is Back, Warriors Look to Defend

In shock news on Tuesday it was announced that Andrew Bogut would not only return to the lineup but be a starter against the Raptors.

In this day and age of Twitter, instant news and what not this came as a big surprise because the Warriors themselves had previously said he would be out indefinitely.

The big man from Melbourne dominated in his 24 minutes putting up 12 points (on 6-8 FG), 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

The Warriors certainly looked a better team with Bogut in the paint and he looked to moving a lot better than his early season games.

Talking about his three dunks in the game, Bogut had this to say, ”That kind of showed my ankle was feeling pretty good”

Until the All Star Break is over he will be limited with his minutes and will not be playing on the second night of a back to back .

We can only hope that he stays healthy this time and can be a difference maker for this young squad come playoffs.

On another note he has recently rejoined Twitter so start following him! @andrewbogut

Are you excited for Rose and Bogut’s return and how much will they contribute to their respective teams?
