NBA Storylines to Watch – Week 9

With all the 2012 doomsday predictions going as well as the Bobcats we can all breath a sigh of relief and look forward to an action packed 2013 filled with NBA

Bobcats Faltering

After such an amazing start (7-5) the Bobcats have been watching too much tape of their historic 2011/12 season and it isn’t going well.

Sporting a 0-15 record since their hot start the Bobcats are in a big funk and it doesn’t look like getting any better.

Injuries to key players means the lack of talent they have is exposed and things have gone pear shaped.

One good thing about watching them is the play of young stars, Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Both have produced games that highlight their talent but unfortunately their teammates haven’t been backing them up.

Can they get back to the team first style of play Coach Dunlap had them playing so well in November or will they continue to set unwanted records?

Houston, We No Problems

If I had to pick any team that has had more drama and action off the court this season that wasn’t called the Lakers then the Rockets would be top of my list.

The off-season hunt for a top free agent netted them nothing except overpaying Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik but then out of the blue they traded for James Harden and there was hope.

Unfortunately they have had to deal with ongoing issues with rookie Royce White and the tragic death of Kevin McHale’s daughter but this team has proved to be nothing but resilient.

Winner of their past four games, including a Christmas blowout of Chicago on the road, this team is going places.

Their young core is playing a fast paced style and the rewards are plenty when it all comes together.

Currently sitting 6th in the West, can this mixed bunch of youngsters keep it going and shock the system some more?

More Trouble in Sacramento

Playing in the worst named arena in history (the Sleep Train Arena) this team is like watching that sleep train slowly crash into a brick wall.

At the heart of their problems lies DeMarcus Cousins, the immature big who could lead the franchise to greater things but isn’t showing much leadership.

Coach Keith Smart dealt Cousins his third suspension this season after some half time backchat in the locker room last week.

The “indefinite” suspension lasted only one game so it’s unlikely he learned anything from it, which places this Kings franchise on the track to nowhere.

Pair this all with a team that lacks any chemistry and the result could be more of this kind of talk.

Will Cousins be traded or will his immaturity continue to be overlooked and drown this franchise?
