Week 11 Free-To-Air Previews
Unfortunately we only have the two free to air games this week. Fortunately they’re dishing up two mouth watering division matchups that could go a long way in deciding the AFC playoff picture.
Chargers at Broncos – ONE HD 8:15am EDST
Denver (6-3) currently sit atop the AFC West and this week they host the second placed Chargers (4-5) in a game that could be season defining for both sides.
What’s the story with the Chargers? The Chargers will be looking to get back on track after their 34-24 loss to the Buccaneers last week. This game is a must win for the Chargers otherwise they will lose more ground to the Broncos and their season will pretty much be over.
What’s the story with the Broncos? Last weeks 36-14 win over the Panthers was the Broncos fourth straight and now has them in good shape to make the playoffs. The Broncos are firing on both sides of the ball with Peyton Manning looking like his old self and the defence looking downright scary.
Who could break out? The Chargers will be focusing their defence towards wideouts Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas which should allow for tight end Jacob Tamme to find some open spaces. I’m expecting him to put up some big numbers against the Chargers.
Final word and prediction: The Chargers have just been too inconsistent this year for me to have faith in them, particularly against the Broncos. Denver wins 28-14
Ravens @ Steelers – ONE HD 12:20pm EDST
The Ravens (7-2) come into this game on a high after putting up a club record 55 points against the Oakland Raiders while the Steelers (6-3) scraped home with a 16-13 overtime victory over the lowly Kansas City Chiefs.
What’s the story with the Ravens? Baltimore couldn’t have been any more impressive than they were last week. The offence was simply explosive pulling off big play after big play and the defence looked solid. Flacco and co. will be looking to carry that good form into this weeks game.
What’s the story with the Steelers? Byron Leftwich is stepping in for Ben Rothlesberger and he is going to have his hands full against a strong Ravens defence. The Pittsburgh run game has struggled of late and will need to be greatly improved if the Steelers are to have any chance of coming away with a win.
Who could break out? Ray Rice was a passenger last week while the Joe Flacco show unfolded, only putting up a measly 35 rushing yards. Look for him to have a much bigger impact this week as the Ravens will be leaning more against the run facing off against a strong Pittsburgh pass defence.
Final word and prediction: The Ravens looked like the real deal last week, and with Big Ben out they should be able to put the Steelers to the sword this week. Ravens win 31-7.
That’s it for this week, let us know what game you are looking forward to the most and don’t forget to check out our groups page so you can chat with other fans.
